Funding Administrator
Salary: £23,328 per annum 
Grade: UKRI - Band B
Hours: Full time  
Contract Type: Fixed Term until March 2025 
Location: Polaris House, Swindon, Wiltshire.

About the role:

As a Funding Administrator you will provide administrative support to the MRC’s Boards and Panels team which delivers funding through MRC research funding calls.  As a successful candidate you will work closely with other administrative support colleagues, as well as wider team members, in a supportive and collaborative environment to contribute to team objectives.  You will contribute to the MRC mission as a funder improving human health through world class medical research, by helping to deliver MRC funding.

 

Skills, Qualification and Experience:

Essential

·       Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

·       Good organisational skills and experience of managing multiple activities

·       Strong prioritization skills and confident working to tight deadlines

·       Experience of working independently

·       Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with a range of colleagues and external contacts

·       Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team

·       To work in a flexible way and be confident in managing change

·       Ability to work proactively and use initiative to deliver results

·       Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook

·       Literacy and numerical skills – e.g.4/C Grade in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

 

Desirable

·       Knowledge of UKRI and grant processing

·       Knowledge of Siebel, Oracle, Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Specific tasks you will deliver include:

·       Using in-house systems to undertake application processing

·       Managing, processing and tracking the peer review process, by which applications for funding are assessed

·       Identifying and managing conflicts in peer review

·       Liaising with MRC staff to ensure smooth running of funding meetings

·       Attending funding meetings (in person and virtually) to assist with logistics

·       Responding to questions from the external research community

·       Raising purchase orders

·       Engage proactively with the cross-matrix resource model providing support for additional MRC funding calls and other projects

·       Carrying out other administrative duties, as required

 

The role is based in the Swindon office however MRC are trialling hybrid office-home working.  The role also offers:

The Swindon office is based in the Polaris House Campus and offers collaborative working space, staff canteen, free parking, bike sheds, changing rooms and 10-minute walk from Swindon town centre.
